How long it takes for the best sex? Scientists dispelled the myth about lengthy sex and said that it should last from 7 to 13 minutes.
Experts from US, who took a survey to define the ideal length of sexual intercourse, came to a conclusion that men should no longer bother if they couldn't last too long as most women were not bothered about the fastness of the sex.
According to the results, the perfect time spend on penetrative sex is seven to thirteen minutes, which was considered adequate. Sex that lasted less than 3 minutes was considered to be too short, while the intercourse taking more than 13 minutes was believed to be too lengthy.
The study showed that healthy sex should not last long and specialists warn many couples to be more realistic, saying that sex lasting for more than 20 minutes is simply a myth. In most cases it takes half this time to reach the desired satisfaction.
These findings can be both helpful in treating people with sexual dysfunction as well as for prevention of those.
Dr Jane Howard, an Australian medical sex therapist, explained that men are more concerned about the length of the sex, often worried about prolonging it, while women are quite happy with short intercourse.
The results of the survey were published in the international Journal of Sexual Medicine.
