Adult movies performers are at great risk of HIV and other STD's as most often they are not allowed to use condoms during sex scenes.
Researchers brought up an issue of safer sex in adult industry where adult film stars often work on the condition of not using condom. In spite of the fact that actors in adult movies are tested on STDs, the prevention still doesn't work properly. Periodic testing is not always effective to make sex safer in adult movies. There was a case when a male adult performer infected 14 adult actresses despite the fact that he was tested HIV negative.
Dr Corita Grudzen (University of California, Los Angeles) and Dr Peter Kerndt (Los Angeles County Department of Public Health) say that adult industry needs a control of federal legislation to set the regulations regarding health and safety.
The condom is the most effective against HIV and STDs transmission, that's why adult movies performers are likely to be asked on condom use as compulsory. The same legislation was introduced in Nevada in sex-related industry and it was quite successful since no HIV transmission was registered in brothers of Nevada were this legislation was enforced in 1988.
The legislation that is going to protect sexual health of adult movie performers will affect the adult industry in many ways as many video retailers and cable networks will be obliged to distribute condom-only films.
